How to Deal with White Smoke of Diesel Engine?

When the diesel engine start difficult or unable to start, large amount of white smoke discharged from exhaust pipe, what should we do?  When the engine is started, the exhaust pipe emits a lot of white smoke, which is generally not a failure of the fuel supply system.

What is the reason of exhausting the white smoke of four stroke diesel engine?

Maybe there is water in diesel oil, which evaporates into water vapor in the cylinder and is discharged from the exhaust pipe.

Or the cylinder head bolts are loose or the cylinder gasket is damaged, causing cooling water to enter the cylinder. It is possible that here is trachoma or crack somewhere in the cylinder block or cylinder head, and water enters the cylinder to evaporate and be discharged.

How to solve the starting difficultly the diesel engine with exhuasting the white smoke?

Firstly, approach the exit of the exhaust pipe muffler by hand, and if there are water drops on the wet hand, confirm that water enters the cylinder.

Secondly, check whether there is water in the diesel oil. Check whether there is a large amount of water in the oil-water separator. If there is a large amount of water, the fuel quality is poor. First, remove the water in the high and low pressure oil circuits, then open the drain plug of the fuel tank to release the water in the fuel tank, and finally clean it. Diesel flushing the fuel tank.

Thirdly, open the water tank cover, press the starter button and observe whether the water surface of the water filling port is bubbling. If there is water in the engine oil or bubbles emerge from the water surface of the water filler, it means that the cooling water has entered the cylinder.

Fourthly, therefore disassembling the cylinder head, check the tightness of each bolt. If there are loose bolts, tighten them and check for water leakage. If it still leaks, proceed to the next step.

Fifthly, further find out the specific leaking location, inflate the water tank, the pressure is not more than 200kPa, open the oil pan, check the leak at the bottom of the engine, then open the cylinder head to check the bottom of the cylinder head and the cylinder head gasket, and check the faulty location. For parts that leak water into the cylinder, take the method of replacement parts for repair or replacement of new assemblies.
